Spring Cleaning: Sprucing Up Your Landscaping

Spring Cleaning: Sprucing Up Your Landscaping

Whether you hire a landscaping company or you’re more of a hands-on homeowner, there’s a pretty long list of maintenance tasks that need to be done in your landscaping this spring!

Spring is on its way, and with it comes spring cleaning! Last week, we talked about getting the interior of your home neat and tidy for the new season (if you missed it, click HERE!) This week, we’re going to take a look at some of the spring cleaning tasks that will keep your home looking its best on the outside! Whether you hire a landscaping company or you’re more of a hands-on homeowner, there’s a pretty long list of maintenance tasks that need to be done in your landscaping this spring!

Keeping the Grass Trimmed

This probably goes without saying but is still worth mentioning: springtime means that grass cutting season has officially begun. It’s easy enough to do on your own, but if you have a large property it’s well worth hiring a landscaping company. Cutting the grass can be time-consuming, so if you choose to do it yourself a riding mower is definitely a worthwhile investment!

Planting and Maintaining the Gardens

Spring is also gardening season. Shop around the many local Eastern Shore farms and nurseries to find the right plants for your property. When planting, make sure you’re putting plants in the right places. Some need more light or shade than others, and some will need more water. Once the plants are in, your gardens will need to be watered and weeded regularly!

Washing and Painting the House

Your beautiful custom home has been built to last, but sometimes it will need some touch-ups here and there. Because you’re near the water, there’s going to be more of a breeze than most locations further inland. The breeze and the salt air can cause your siding and outdoor paint to deteriorate. The outside of your home will also need to be cleaned regularly. That lovely ocean breeze blows all kinds of stuff around and you’ll want to make sure your house stays clean. Rain will help, but you shouldn’t depend on it to keep everything washed.
