Taking the Accent Walls in Your Custom Home Up a Notch

Taking the Accent Walls in Your Custom Home Up a Notch

Accent walls might not seem like an important part of your home. Don’t underestimate them.

Accent walls might not seem like an important part of your home. Don’t underestimate them. Despite what you might think, these elements can make your custom home even more impressive. Let’s find out why!

Go Bold

One way to pump it up a notch is to go bold with your wall designs. This means taking advantage of your accent walls and making them more colorful than other walls in the entire house. In a smaller room, brighter colors count for a lot more, since you want there to be a feeling of wide-open space to chase away that pesky claustrophobic feeling. No one wants that, especially since it can discourage people from entering that space

Be Subtle

On the other hand, you could choose to be subtle instead. That’s because a contrasting effect can pay off. If you have dark blue walls, play around with light blue on some of the accent walls in the same room! This results in an optical illusion where the eye thinks it is looking at the same color or one similar enough that it doesn’t ruin the experience of looking around and the different surfaces inside, whether it’s the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom

Support Surfaces

You can’t forget about the surfaces of your custom home, either. We don’t just mean on the outside – what’s on the inside matters too! Drywall is one option, but it’s not the only one in your new sandbox. Masonry, stucco, and other textures provided by wood, concrete, marble, and tile can help give your floors, walls, and countertops a boost by adding a splash of color that doesn’t overwhelm the overall aesthetic that you are trying to achieve.

Make Decisions

The time has come to make some good decisions. How your home is designed, the layout and the floor plan all have bearing on what comes next!
