Having Fun on the Water while Maintaining Social Distancing

While COVID-19 has created some rather trying times for everyone, we are so fortunate that we live so near the Chesapeake Bay and connecting waterways. Spending time out on the water is one of the most fun ways to maintain social distancing!

With the pandemic still at the forefront of everyone’s minds, fun days out on the water may have taken a backseat to concerns about staying healthy. Fortunately, if done with safety in mind, there is plenty you can do for a fun day on the water while still maintaining a safe social distance. While COVID-19 has created some rather trying times for everyone, we are so fortunate that we live so near the Chesapeake Bay and connecting waterways. Spending time out on the water is one of the most fun ways to maintain social distancing!

Boating

If you are considering a waterfront custom home or you already own one, it’s likely that you’ve also either spent some time on a boat or you own one. With boating restrictions lifted in Maryland, boat owners flocked to the water for some long-awaited water time. If you’re not using a private dock, be sure to observe social distancing so that everyone can remain safe. Also, don’t go on the boat with anyone who doesn’t live with you. Unfortunately, the warm weather and lifted spirits don’t mean that the risk is any lower. Take your family and enjoy a nice, relaxing day on the boat.

Fishing

Another fun way to enjoy the water while remaining a safe distance from others is to go fishing. You can easily set your chair up on the shore with a couple of lines in the water somewhere along the hundreds of miles of coastline in Maryland. If you own a boat, it’s even easier to maintain a safe distance because you can be out in open water with your fishing gear! Possibly the best part of fishing: the quiet!

Kayaking and Canoeing

For those who prefer somewhat smaller bodies of water, there’s kayaking and canoeing! Kayaking and canoeing can provide some fantastic workouts, which many people are really missing with all the gyms being closed. Let one of Maryland’s hundreds of scenic lakes or rivers be your new gym! It’s like going to the gym but with views that can’t be beat.
