How to Improve Your Home’s Curb Appeal for Summer

Summer is a great time to give your home’s curb appeal a boost! Bright, sunny days will illuminate your gorgeous waterfront home and you want it to look its best!

While the official first day of summer isn’t until later this month, we are feeling that warmth and humidity that come with every Maryland summer! Summer is a great time to give your home’s curb appeal a boost! Bright, sunny days will illuminate your gorgeous waterfront home and you want it to look its best!

Add a Garden

We talk a lot about gardening and how it’s a great way to get out and get some fresh air but it’s also a fantastic way to give your curb appeal a boost! Use lots of different colors of flowers and plants to make it colorful. Use plants of different shapes and sizes to make it even more visually interesting. You can also place garden beds in key locations around your property, such as along your front walkway or next to the ends of the driveway.

Lawn Maintenance

One easy way to boost your curb appeal is to do something you already do regularly: take care of your lawn. Keep the grass at an acceptable length, make sure edges are trimmed, and be sure to clear away any grass clippings from asphalt and walking paths. Alternatively, you can always just hire a landscaping company to care for these tasks for you! A well-manicured lawn keeps a property looking clean and polished.

Lighting the Way

Good lighting can keep your curb appeal boosted at all times of the day. You can use spotlights to show off your beautiful gardens, your house, or maybe a stone or water feature you’ve installed. Good lighting also increases safety and security. Motion sensor lights can help deter would-be home invaders and some little creatures that may want to come and feast on your plants.

Power Washing

The closer your home is to the shore, the more salt there will be in the air. While that salt air smells great and makes you feel relaxed, it can also cause your siding to look dirty much more quickly than a home further inland. Having your home power washed regularly boosts curb appeal and keeps the house looking squeaky-clean. Plus, while the power washer is there, they can wash down porches, patios, decks, and walkways as well!
