Designing Your Waterfront Custom Home for Gatherings

Designing Your Waterfront Custom Home for Gatherings

Love to entertain? Shore-Line Construction can help make your custom home ready for future gatherings.

Spending time out on the water is one of the reasons why you might love the idea of owning a custom waterfront home, but spending time indoors should also be a fabulous experience. Part of enjoying your custom home is having guests come over to fellowship. Even though these times deny that privilege, we can be certain that many years will follow when we can gather. If entertaining is your forte, consider having these features in your waterfront custom home.

Open Floor Plan

An open floor plan allows large gatherings to move freely and still generally communicate with each other. It makes moving from the kitchen to the dining room to the living room a breeze. Open floor plans are currently more popular than closed floor plans by far, but broken plan living, a layout in between open and closed, is also common.

Entertainment-Friendly Kitchen

When gatherings commence, there is always food and drinks to be had. Kitchens, once detached from the house or kept hidden in the back, are now a magnet for gatherings of friends and family. Sitting around the kitchen island and chatting while sipping a hot or cold beverage is always pleasant. Plus, it lets families enjoy time preparing meals together and make memories.

Seating Areas

Seating areas would naturally be in the living room. However, there are more variations on the living room than one might think. Traditionally, a living room would be a modern-day parlor for receiving guests formally, while a family room would be a more intimate, day-to-day living space. A great room encompasses the two and often boasts a high ceiling and openness to the kitchen.

Rec Room

A party isn’t complete without some fun and games. It never hurts to have an extra room for playing games and watching movies. A rec room, game room, or media room would also be an ideal place for teens or young adults to party without being too loud for the rest of the household. The main floor or the basement are two areas where a rec room might be found.

Guest Rooms

Granted that your guests are staying at least a night, you’ll need ample guest spaces for them. An extra room in your waterfront custom home design could easily become a quiet guest room. Be sure there is an extra bathroom nearby where they can wash up, too.

Outdoor Living Spaces

On nice days, it’s always great to enjoy the views. That’s why outdoor living space can also make a great entertainment spot. Shore-Line Construction can include a custom deck or patio in your design as well.
